The skiing conditions are phenomenal here in northwestern Maine. The snow is light and very dry (thanks to that recent sub-Arctic air mass), the cover is great, and the crowds, well, what crowds? Perhaps that’s why both Sugarloaf and Sunday River are offering Winter Stimulus Packages (lift and lodging) for Presidents Weekend/Week (Feb. 13-19) that roll back prices 20- to 33-percent below 2008 rates. As always, read the fine print: max occupancy, resort fees, etc., but still a good deal.
This Week is White White World Week at Sugarloaf, with midweek tickets costing $35; with 20 inches of snow, give or take, forecast for today’s storm, Thursday or Friday might be good days to take a “personal” day from work.
