Two Maine inns in the Kennebunks are offering specialty dinners this fall.

A Spirited Evening Harvest Dinner, Oct. 27 & 31

Ready to get spooked? Join psychic Vicki Monroe at the 200-year-old  Kennebunk Inn in downtown Kennebunk’s for a three-course dinner, followed by an exploration of the inn’s paranormal activity. Monroe will act as the spiritual messenger, sharing insights and messages from the other side. A few select dinner guests whose spirits connect with Vicki will receive a personal reading during the program. All guests are welcome to stay for a Meet and Greet with Monroe in the lounge after dinner.

The dinner, offered Oct. 27 and Oct. 31, includes an appetizer, choice of three entrees, and dessert along with the presentation for $68 per person. Advanced payment for dinner & 20% tip is required. The dinner does not include tax or beverages. Rooms are available beginning at $79 per night.

Winter Food Series at the Captain Fairfield Inn

From November through April, the Captain Fairfield Inn, in Kennebunkport, is offering specialty food programs one weekend each month. The classes, offered on Saturday afternoonsin the inn’s Tasting Room, will be led by local brewers, chocolatiers, sommeliers, fromagers and mixologists. Packages, including two nights accommodations, Friday night cocktail reception, and optional dinner for two, begin at $430 double.

Nov. 16-17, 2012: The Art of Pickling & Pairing
Learn about the art of pickling (and canning) with Kate McCarty, a food preservation specialist from the University of Maine. In addition, learn how to pair pickled foods with beer, mead and hard cider. Kate and the innkeepers will teach pickling basics and unveil the  pairing possibilities of local maine foods and spirits.

Dec. 14–15, 2012: Craft Holiday Cocktails
Join barman/beverage manager Scot Doherty from the popular Old Vines Wine Bar in Lower Village Kennebunk, for an evening of holiday cocktail tasting and noshing.  Innkeepers Jed & Alana pair these holiday tipples with locally sourced seasonal treats.

Jan. 5–6, 2013: A Night with Allagash
Avid beer fans have certainly heard of Maine’s preeminent Belgian-style brewer, Allagash.  Brewmaster Jason Perkins brings limited edition and seasonal specialties to Captain Fairfield Inn for a special night of beer paired with small plates.

Feb. 22–23, 2013: A Chocoholics Dream
Celebrate the month of love with a chocolate tasting from Maine’s own Martha Moon Chocolate Company. Learn how these sweet treats are made and taste samples paired with carefully selected ports and dessert wines.

March 29–30, 2013: Maine Seafood Loves Wine
Savor Maine seafood small plates paired with a choice selection of wines from around the world.  Sommelier and Certified Wine Specialist Erica Archer of Portland’s Wine Wise Events will lead guests through this special wine education and pairing class.

April 5–6, 2013: New England Cheese Pairing
From pungent to creamy and back again, discover the diverse world of New England cheeses through the eyes of cheese fanatic (and cheese buyer for a local organic grocer), Shannon Tallman. Shannon pairs New England cheeses with local spirits, such as beer, mead, hard cider and even wines from Maine-based Cellardoor vineyard.
